I love this thing. Not as cool as the Twindoor they had on the Superb back then but practicality is top-notch.

If only Cadillac stayed true to the Escala concept and made the CT4 a liftback like this. CT4-V Blackwing but a liftback. All the performance and practicality in one package.

There will be a 242bhp, 2.0 petrol Octavia vRS out soon and a hybrid version later with a 1.4TSi engine with an electric motor, again turning out 242bhp. While not earth shattering in power and speed (0-60 in 6.7), it makes up for in practicality.

Also available in estate form.

The good thing about the Octavia, is the majority are available in Petrol or diesel, manual or auto, liftback or estate with neatly any mix of them.

Available for all pockets too from cheap and basic, more refined or sporty.

Mine’s been excellent. Fast, comfy, reliable, practical. Only problem with the liftback is my garage roof is low and it opens a loooong way up. But I do like the way it gives you almost all the practicality of  a wagon without the looks or the extra interior noise.

In the video he mentions there’s a way to program it how high it opens.

That must be a new feature for the 2020 model - my 2017 doesn’t have it. It wouldn’t help much anyway (except for short people) - the tailgate’s latch o nly just clears my head when I lean in as it is.

The inherent problem with a liftback is they’re L shaped like a sedan trunklid not I shaped like a hatchback or wagon tailgate. Which means when it’s raised there’s 18"-2 ft of extra height overhead between the bottom edge of it and the top of the lip spoiler.
